National Convenings

“The day after I came home [from the YEO National Convening], I gave my staff 15 new ideas to look into! I’ve never come back from a conference with so many ideas.” – State Senator Amanda McGill, Lincoln, NE

The annual YEO Network National Convening provides YEOs with an opportunity to grow as public servants through workshops and trainings designed specifically for young leaders in their positions. This unique conference serves to nurture and support YEOs as innovative thinkers, young leaders, and elected officials.

Members of the YEO Network spend three days sharing policy ideas, connecting with strategic partners, gaining valuable skills and leadership training, and networking with the most innovative young leaders in our country.

See what the 2013 National Convening was like, what it meant to YEOs, and why the YEO Network is so important:

“The oxygen in this room is medicinal for the rest of the year for me. And I know I’m not the only one… This is one of the few places that I just never miss, every year. And the reason is because this is one of the few weekends in my life that I get to be an elected official, and I get to be a little bit young at the same time.” – City Councilman Melvin Carter III speaking to his fellow YEOs in his Barbara Jordan Leadership Award acceptance speech at the 2011 National Convening
