Teleconference- Green Economy
Green Envy: Realizing a Green Economy at Every Level
January 27, 2009
Presenters:
Jason Walsh, National Policy Director Green For All
Parin Shah, Local Policy Director Green For All
Vien Truong, Senior Policy Associate Green For All
Stacey Ho, Policy Associate Green For All
This was an informative teleconference for an issue that has shown to be a “hot topic” amongst YEOs. Several people shared their programs and had questions regarding the initiatives that Green For All shared.
Green For All outlined the scope of the national green effort and detailed the possible positive impacts that creating a strong green economy can have on the national economy. Parin Shah and Stacey Ho highlighted the steps that were being taken on the local front to increase green initiatives. Their primary example was the Berkeley Project, which allows homeowners to borrow money from “financing institutions” in order to install solar panels on their homes.
Vien Truong outlined the work that Green For All did in Massachusetts with the Green Jobs Act of 2008. This Act allotted $100,000 for the study of clean energy labor markets, energy efficiency opportunities for state property, and other efforts.
